It seems to me...

Regarding the UAW's reneging on their agreement to renogotiate the labor contracts with the big three as a condition for receiving taxpayers' money:
I understand that union leadership is only doing the job its members pay it to do which is to insure that as many workers as possible are employed at the highest wages possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to matter to them whether or not this drives the company into bankruptcy. It is a me-first attitude, an attitude of  "By God I going to get mine and the hell with everyone else!" that has brought about the auto industry's woes.

LET THEM FAIL! In spite of what we are being told, bankruptcy does not mean that the American auto industry is going away.  Not everyone in the industry will lose their job. It will merely be leaner and more competitive which, in turn, will allow it to survive with a sustainable working model.

The reason union leadership is fighting for a taxpayer bailout is because it knows bankruptcy means court supervised renogotiation of all labor contracts which most certainly will result in lower wages/benefits and lower revenue in its coffers from union dues. Is it any wonder that the union's preference is to take taxpayers' money to preserve their members' high wages/benefits? WE NEED TO TELL THE UAW, "HANDS OFF OUR MONEY"!
